The Story:

The audio of ‘Gundra Govi’ was released at the Bell Hotel in Bangalore on Thursday evening in the presence of Krishnamurthy a social servant in Magadi taluk.

Directors T.S.Nagabharana, KM Chaitanya, B Suresha, Producer K Manju, Lahari Velu, director Tharesh Rao, Producer Gopalakrishna, music director of the film Phoenix Raja, Hemanthkumar the Nelamangala friend of producer hero Sathya and heroine of the film were present at the audio release. The new hero of the film and other stars were too present.

Two songs and some clippings of the film ‘Gundragovi’ were screened for the audience.

Govi Govi….Gundra Govi title song…Haage Hadu Hogu Omme…Amrutha Kano….Rangana Muddhu Nayana…Muttalilla Mana Needalilla…are the songs in the film.

Gundragovi Movie Review:

The protagonist Kummi (Sathya) is a ruffian. He is a vagabond – a person with no earthy ties (meaning of Gundragovi). He is with four friends in the village. The gang steals properties like hen, coconuts, vessels and their business is to drink stomach full of arrack and sleep like idiots. They have no work to do and they are pooh-poohed by the villagers. Kummi is feared for his muscle power but he is good at heart.

For such a careless and useless guy Kummi finds a child abandoned. He picks the child and when he finds the police siren he puts the child in the hands of Madhu (Navyasri). Baffled with this Madhu inevitably brings the child to the home and gives the required food. The very next day she traces Kummi and handover the child. Kummi gets a job as protector of Gowda in the village and getting money is not difficult for him. He somehow takes care of the child but the bloody fight that evolve when son of another Gowda in the village prefers to marry Madhu.

Madhu at this time seeks the help of Kummi. At the interval block Kummi and Madhu with garland and child in the hand shock the entire village.

Madhu and Kummi have discussed something else. To escape from marriage of Gowda son and reach her fiancé Gopi (Gopalakrishna) Madhu hatched a plot for which Kummi gives the consent. Kummi and Madhu live in one house with a child. When Gopi the fiancé of Madhu comes it is Kummi who arranges for the lovers safe return from the village. Gopi prefers to take Madhu in his next visit but in that visit he accidentally traces Madhu is carried in the hands by Kummi because she fell down from a height. That particular incident brings difference of opinion between Madhu and Gopi. At this point of time rival Gowda in the village come prepared with his goons. In the bloody fight Kummi kills Gowda and his son with a sharp stone. At the same time Madhu loses her leg. After seven years later Kummi comes back to his village and shocked to see Madhu handicap. Kummi takes care of Madhu and child that is grown up now.In his debut director Tharesh Raj shows the mental and physical power of rural people. With Kummi on the one hand and Gopi a city bred guy on the other hand he shows the wide difference in the mental make ups of the two.

Director in his first attempt should have pruned some more scenes to look the cinema even crisp. The character of Ninasam Ashwath brother of heroine Navyasri is unnecessarily given prominence. In one dialogue many of the action and talkie portions could have been told.

In the maximum of scenes the hero Sathya does not wear the shirt in some other scenes he does not completely wear the buttons. Why is this? The villagers today are reaching the ultra modern stage. A Parody like Sathya in the village living without shirt looks ugly. How come the friends of protagonist are wearing the shirts?

The whole film appears like a take off of another Kannada film ‘Thabbali’ in which Akash (Nasir is his original name son of veteran actor Satyajith). In ‘Thabbali’ also the hero finds an abandoned child that he takes care.

There seems to be a pre plan to bring an alternative to action hero Vijay. Like how Vijay was projected in his blockbuster ‘Dhuniya’ in the same way another black skinned Sathya is showcased in ‘Gudragovi’.

For the front benchers and in B and C centers this kind of Kummi character will be a hit.Sathya has freaked out in his performance. He has to improve when it comes to histrionics. He is a stage actor and done wonders already. He should stand before the huge mirror and correct himself in giving expressions and come before the camera. He has the robust strength. His dialogue delivery is good. Black is beautiful Sathya!

Navyasri dubbing is good but she as ‘Teacheravva’ with no proper dress sense looks awful. A teacher has certain dress designing. How come the director has forgotten it?

Sharat Lohitashva is apt and his dialogue delivery is the trump card. Ninasam Ashwath and Pushpa Swamy are OK.

Phoenix Raja has given a fast title track, the duet song between Sathya and Navyasri the dream song of four friends Hage Hadhu Hogu Omme….reminds the song Kariya I Love you in Dhuniya.

Niranjan Babu Cinematography is adequate. In the dark light and sun light Babu has done a competent job. The editing of the film is impressive and there is no room for disconnected scenes.
